Portfolio Site Research: Five Great Designs

www.enila.fr
This site is fresh and fun. The navigation is unique, and the display is dynamic and interesting. I especially think that the color choices and the illustration give the site a very distinctive feel, the site is both edgy and refined. The organization however is not ideal. While everything is displayed under each category, you have to go back and forth between projects which gets rather annoying.

I love the simplicity of this site, and the decidedly modern slightly rough feel that lends itself well to the style of the artist. The images are all shown at full size, so clicking on thumbnails is not necessary. Some improvements might include captions to describe the different projects.

The single most attractive aspect of this site is simply the gorgeous illustration style of the author. The portfolio is shown as an open sketchbook, and you simply navigate through the pages using the slider at the bottom. Additional links and descriptions are included. I'm still wondering why there's a dinosaur as the logo when "lapin" translates to rabbit.

This portfolio is all about the work. It is clean and elegant allowing the portfolio truly shine. The navigation is perfectly simple, and only disappears when viewing the different artworks at full screen size.

This site also lets the work take precedence. Name and navigation are at the top, and each gallery thumbnail opens into Lightbox where you can navigate to the previous and next images as well.
