Project 2: Design Research

This website is simple and clean, using rotating photographs on the main page to highlight events at the gallery. Navigation is easy from the ribbon at the top, each link drops down to show more options in the category and uses a different color. You can also link to the VCUarts page at the top ribbon.

This website is fairly large, but navigation isn't daunting. The logo is prominent on the left with other important information. The largest image on the page rotates along with upcoming events, descriptions, and links to the events' pages.  Below are links to pages that most visitors would likely be looking for anyway. The ribbon at the top has the drop box navigation if you are looking for something more specific.

This is also a very large site. The home page highlights current/upcoming exhibitions with a slide show of images, and  important links are below. Further exploration of the site can begin with the links at the top, and towards the bottom of the page. I also like how there are links at the very top right for accounts and different language options, and use the French colors. It is easy to find what you are looking for on the page without a lot of thought. I like how the design of the page uses imagery from the Louvre pyramids, and the black gives the site a classy feel.

Very clean, simple, elegant. Brief text. Easy navigation.

The design of the site is similar to the sites above, using a blocky grid and the navigation at the top. The headings and links use colors from the logo, and the orange background brightens up the site.  Important info and upcoming events are all easy to find on the main page.

I really love this design. The typographic rules lead the eye through the page and emphasize the logo.  The drop tab navigation make use of this design element as well. There is a lot of white space, which along with the bright colors, fun logo, and imagery give the page a very fun atmosphere.
